BRENT CROSS FOCUSES ON THE FAMILY

"A family shopping trip can be a chore, but it doesn't have to be", says Tom Nathan, Commercial Director at Brent Cross, one of the country's busiest shopping malls. "In fact", he says, "going somewhere like Brent Cross can be one of the best ways for all ages to have fun and relax together."

Unconvinced? - well, there aren't too many other places which go to such lengths to meet the needs of grandparents, parents and children. Because at Brent Cross, trendy also means family-friendly. Just take a look at the newly-opened Wagamama, which has a special children's menu and a wide variety of entertainments and activities throughout the year.

For families with small children there are special 'parent & child' parking spaces close to the main entrances, while for those little 'emergencies', baby changing facilities are available at each set of main toilets. And Brent Cross also looks after forgetful parents, with free baby buggies available should mum or dad leave theirs at home. And going round over 100 stores has never seemed more interesting to younger children than when they get to be 'chauffered' in their very own Boobaloo Car!

But if the thought of pushing a buggy makes mum and dad want to head for the nearest caffeine fix, Brent Cross can help there, too! Its Nipperboat crche allows parents the chance to take a little time out for themselves and relax over a well-earned coffee in Carluccio's, Starbucks or Costa, happy in the knowledge that their little tykes are enjoying their own special time.

Older children are also well looked after, with a series of events throughout the year ranging from bungee trampolining and free magic shows to a circus and mobile theme park. And if that still doesn't quite do it for them, how about a children's movie club or spooky Hallowe'en activities? It's not just the shops at Brent Cross that are funky!

Sometimes it's the grandparents who take charge for a day or two and so Brent Cross ensures that its malls are as friendly when you're 70 as they are when you're 30, with ample seating and lifts and escalators nearby.

Brent Cross prides itself on being accessible to everyone. Its free Shopmobility service is always popular with the less mobile members of the family who take advantage of the electric or push wheelchairs and electric scooters on offer. There are also special parking spaces for them next to the Shopmobility centre, with easy access from there into the malls.

And the Centre is proud to have staff available, who between them speak 17 different languages. It means that families and visitors whose first language may not be English can usually be welcomed in their own language and made to feel at home. It all makes, as Tom Nathan nearly said, for a relaxed and enjoyable day out!
