5 September 2004 BRENT CROSS SHOPPING CENTRE HOSTS TAXI DRIVER OF THE YEAR CHARITY EVENT The Taxi Driver of the Year Charity's annual fund-raising event is this year being hosted by Brent Cross. On 5 September, the fun packed day includes a number of exciting funfair rides, a variety of taxi trade stands, a five-a-side football competition, companion dog show and an indulgence area offering a massage or manicure. To make the day even more of a success any further offers of support or sponsorship would be welcomed by the Charity organisers, who can be contacted on 07850 056 765. The highlight of the day will be the Finals of the Taxi Drivers' Skills Course, a test of driving across a challenging course set up specially to find the most skilful black cab driver in London. The Charity has been running for over 30 years and has so far distributed approximately £500,000 to charities, hospitals and private care homes, including: * The London Taxi Driver Fund for Underprivilaged Children * London Taxi Benevolent Association for War Disabled * The Albany Taxi Charity Fund for Children with Special Needs * Southend Fund for Underprivileged Children |
