EXPERIENCE A TASTE OF THE ORIENT AS BRENT CROSS SHOPPING CENTRE CELEBRATES THE CHINESE YEAR OF THE ROOSTER

Barnet Mayor Wendy Prentice and Andrew Dismore MP will join shoppers at Brent Cross Shopping Centre on 12 February as it welcomes in the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Rooster, with a feast of oriental delights.

Under the light of traditional Chinese hanging lanterns, the vibrant and colourful spectacle will transport onlookers straight to China. Organised in conjunction with natural remedies store Dr & Herbs, the entertainment includes daring feats of acrobatics that will draw gasps from the crowd and a martial arts display will demonstrate strength and discipline.

A Chinese classical musical instrument performance and singing will provide a soothing change of pace, whilst Chinese folk dancers and magic show will captivate. Of course, no Chinese New Year celebration would be complete without the dance of the Lion, winding its way through the malls.

Shoppers will also have the opportunity to witness the unique "face changing" act by a young Chinese performer who will astound spectators as he changes his face using masks that seem to appear by magic.

As well as the dazzling entertainments on offer, customers will be able to take home souvenirs such as pens, Chinese newspapers and cooking sauces. They can also have their names written by artists in Chinese calligraphy as a keepsake. Dr & Herbs will be offering massages, food tastings and a raffle.
