BRENT CROSS JUDO DEMO THROWS WEIGHT BEHIND LONDON 2012 BID

Brent Cross Shopping Centre is playing host to a weekend of Judo demonstrations on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 May in support of London's Bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

Brent Cross will be encouraging shoppers to show their support for London's Bid in this final crucial stretch. A decision on which city will be awarded the Games will be made on 6 July in Singapore. Seventy nine per cent of Londoners now support the capital's Bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games - up to its highest level ever.

Centre Court in Brent Cross will become a dojo as professional Judo sportsmen and women demonstrate some of the moves and throws used in this disciplined and safely controlled sport which has been an Olympic event since 1964. Demonstrations will take place at intervals from 10am.

'Customers needn't worry - they won't find themselves thrown to the ground and pinned down until they submit!' explains Tom Nathan, Commercial Director of Brent Cross. 'Backing the Bid is easy. Promotional staff will be handing out stickers for shoppers to wear to show their support. The number of stickers accepted by Brent Cross customers and staff will be counted as registered support.'

As well as Backing the Bid, Brent Cross shoppers can add to their spring wardrobes or pick up the latest must-haves for their homes from over 110 shops and designer stores, including firm favourites John Lewis and Fenwick department stores, and the newly opened Hilfiger Denim and H&M's new flagship store. Brent Cross also has a variety of coffee bars and restaurants, such as the popular Wagamama noodle bar. Brent Cross is easy to reach by bus, tube and train and has over 650 free parking spaces.
