28 August 2007 WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY - BRENT CROSS PLANTS THE GREEN MESSAGE What: Brent Cross Shopping Centre is actively participating in The United Nation's Environment Campaign, to plant one million trees in one day around the world. Making a symbolic contribution to the campaign, Brent Cross will plant a single tree in partnership with the Earth Charter on Tuesday 5 June 2007 at 10.30am. Jeffrey Newman, the director of the Earth Charter UK and Cllrs Freer and Coleman of Barnet Council will be in attendance at the planting ceremony, which demonstrates how a series of single actions, when taken together, can culminate in a momentous effect. Enhancing Brent Cross' commitment to the environment is Green Matters, an exhibition running 2-17 June. The event will help educate customers and retailers alike on the small steps they can take to make a difference to the environment and explains some of the work already undertaken by the Centre and its retailers. As part of the proposed Brent Cross Cricklewood redevelopment, there are plans to make the area one of the greenest places to live, work and shop in Britain. If the redevelopment is approved, the tree planted on 5 June 2007 will symbolically remind visitors of Brent Cross' long-standing commitment to the environment, as the regeneration takes place around it.
