BACKGROUND
Brent Cross opened in 1976 following the US shopping mall model in design terms. Revolutionary for the UK, it flourished and grew and following a major refurbishment in 1995 has become the most well-established and well-known centre in the country.

KEY POINTS:
  • 1st covered shopping centre in UK.
  • Jointly owned by Hammerson UK Properties and Standard Life Assurance.
  • Second Highest rates in UK second only to Oxford Street.
  • A well-established retail offer with over 120 stores and restaurants.
  • Approximately 16 million people visit the Centre per year.
  • Approximately 50 million cars drive into Brent Cross each year.
  • Expenditure across all main sectors within the catchment area is significantly higher than the national average currently just under £100 per visit. This is the highest in the UK.
  • Brent Cross held the first major sustainability event at any UK shopping centre with visitors from across Europe in June 2007.
  • An excellent location. Brent Cross is located close to several major trunk routes into and around London including the M1, A41, A406 North Circular Road and within easy reach of M25 and A40/M40.
  • Brent Cross is the only major London centre to provide 8,000 free parking spaces for its customers - a significant draw among target sectors.
  • The Centre has its own Bus Station which is the largest in the borough and is within easy reach of 2 tube stations and a Thameslink station.
  • Every year over 25 million cars drive past Brent Cross - this equates to the whole UK population having visual contact with the Centre annually.
  • 30% change in stores over last 3 years has resulted in an exceptional fashion-led mix.
  • The Centre has a developing restaurant offer. Carluccio’s at Fenwick has more than doubled the customer numbers of the previous café and the newest addition Wagamama in the restaurant area has proved a significant draw.
