Reiss: SS18

The Reiss Spring/Summer 2018 collection has arrived.

The Reiss SS18 womenswear collection is one of modern, emotional pieces that evolve from spontaneity and fantasy. It places strong focus on ease, effortlessness and sensuality within tailoring and adds twists and artful drapery to classic workwear silhouettes to take them in a new, elevated direction. Muses include 1970s style icon Jane Birkin as well as present-day model and influencer, Mollye Rogel, and stimulus is taken from the work of photographer Slim Aarons and florist Simone Gooch. When it comes to occasionwear, it’s mixed media – lace, devoré detailing and textured elements – that combine to create something fresh and impactful. As we move into high summer, light fabrications such as linen and linen-jersey become ever-more prominent, as does the lingerie-inspired styling seen early in the season. The accessory collection is condensed and presents expertly crafted, contemporary designs with design and detail at their core.

For SS18, Reiss menswear has turned its focus to the stunning landscape of Lake Como, Italy, to present a collection of handsome tonal hues, bold prints and deconstructed, relaxed tailoring encapsulating the very definition of effortless style. A nod to the carefree, luxury lifestyle of the idyllic region as well as the world of racing sports, the collection features “deck-chair” vertical stripes, perforated leathers and accessories, alongside dynamic and oversized prints adorned with everything from animals to romantic florals. Tailoring, which has found a muse in iconic French actor Alain Delon, takes a more relaxed approach this season, as shoulders become natural, padding is removed for a less structured silhouette and softer fabrics combine the smartness of modern tailoring with the comfort of relaxed wear. As high summer approaches, linen and linen-jersey make appearances in T-shirts, shirts and trousers, creating a loose, louche disposition evocative of sun-dripped summer dressing before the season closes.
